Project Engineer

PROJECT ENGINEER $70,000 - $85,000 + Benefits - CENTRAL FLORIDA - Kissimmee, Lake Mary, Melbourne, Orlando

Heavy Highway and Roadway Contractor are looking for a Project Engineer to join their busy and expanding team. This company has over 30 years in industry building roads, bridges and highways working with FDOT, local municipalities, local developers, and engineers. They value their workers and like to show it! The role will include but not be limited to:

• Contact subcontractors and suppliers for purposes of bid solicitation. Evaluate less complex Subcontractor bids, aid in pricing alternates, and initiate value-engineering alternatives.
• Be stationed at the project site or otherwise as deemed necessary by the Project Manger.
• Oversee the set-up of job files.
• Assist the Superintendent with determining material handling and storage logistics.
• Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of purchase orders, subcontracts and change orders.
• Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contract, subcontractors, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Minimum 1 years experience working in a Project Engineer role for a Civil contractor. 
• Experience working with FDOT and municipal projects (civil, highway, roadway geometric design, roadway plan production, drainage design).
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability in these areas: interpersonal skills computer skills, ability to communicate both written and oral.
• Knowledge of PC-based programs including scheduling, spreadsheet applications, to include Viewpoint, Primavera, Excel and Word.
