MAIN CONTRACTOR - NEW BUILD (INDUSTRIAL/ COMMERCIAL)

 

About the company

You will be working for a Tier 1 main contractor that specialises in Commercial, Industrial & Logistics build. As an Estimator, you will be working as part of the commercial team in the Manchester office.

 

About the role

As an Estimator, you will be working with a team of Senior Estimators & The Estimating Manager. You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring costs remain in line with forecasts  
  • Preparing quantities and bringing the bids together
  • Calculating the cost of materials, transport, labour, and equipment hire  
  • Obtaining quotes for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers 
  • Collating detailed price lists of everything needed on each construction project  
  • Preparing tenders for schemes ranging in value from £20M - £45M
  • Undertake estimates in accordance with procedures
  • Maintain tender estimate file
  • Obtain feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costs
  • Assessing and adhering to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements 
  • Liaising with others including Construction Managers, Planners, and Design Managers  
  • Presenting bids to clients and answering their questions  
  • Completing work quality submissions  
  • ​Preparing and submitting quotations for work 
  • To work to the Company’s quality standards and performance criteria 
  • Co-operate on matters of health and safety and follow the training provided, always taking reasonable care of personal and other people’s health and safety 
  • Any other duties consistent with the role of Estimator as may be required from time to time 

 

About you

To successfully apply for this role, you will have the following:

  • Experience of working on Industrial/Logistics projects (preferred)
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field
  • Ambition and drive with a self-motivating personality & proactive approach  
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written  
  • Good organisational skills  
  • The ability to work to strict deadlines  
  • Good negotiation skills  
  • The ability to work on your own initiative  
  • UK driving licence & vehicle (non essential)
