Trainee / Graduate QS
Job Description:
Are you eager to kickstart your career as a Quantity Surveyor (QS)? Our client is currently seeking a Trainee / Graduate QS to become a valuable part of their existing team.
This exciting opportunity is based in their Rotherham office, and you'll be working with a company that specialises in Civils. This is a full-time, permanent role, primarily office-based, providing an excellent platform for you to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills under the mentorship of a seasoned senior QS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders, proposals, and contracts.
- Learn to evaluate and analyse project specifications, drawings, and relevant documents.
- Collaborate with the senior QS to estimate project costs and identify potential cost savings.
- Assist in the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Develop proficiency in cost control, budget management, and financial forecasting.
- Gain experience in tracking project progress, assessing variations, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
- Assist in the negotiation of subcontractor agreements and change orders.
- Learn to manage project documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Engage with project stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
- A degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (for graduate positions).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards your professional development.
