Labour Supply Chain Manager - Birmingham - £45,000 - £50,000

Overview:
The Labour Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the strategic development and operational management of the labour supply chain across the UK, Ireland. This role ensures the recruitment of suitable contractors, the allocation of appropriately skilled tradespeople to each installation, and continuous improvement of contractor performance and Health & Safety. The manager works closely with project managers to ensure that the supply chain strategy aligns with business growth and financial goals.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Growth:

  • Develop and implement a robust supply chain strategy that supports annual business growth and evolving project needs.
  • Drive the expansion of the supply chain across the UK and Ireland to meet growing business demands.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to forecast needs and align contractor availability with project timelines.

2. Operational Coordination and Resource Allocation:

  • Coordinate day-to-day work allocation across the UK and Bulgarian supply chain teams.
  • Ensure weekly reviews confirm 100% installation coverage by correctly skilled and competent tradespeople.
  • Monitor resource scheduling to prevent skill mismatches or resource gaps.

3. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and support the Supply Chain Coordinator, setting clear objectives and managing performance.
  • Manage the performance of contractors, identifying and addressing underperformance proactively.
  • Provide clear directions and guidance to ensure effective team operation.

4. Contractor Performance and Compliance:

  • Regularly review contractor documentation and ensure compliance with all legal and quality standards.
  • Uphold a high standard of professionalism and reliability across the supply chain.
  • Take corrective action to address issues of non-compliance or poor performance.

5. Financial Oversight:

  • Conduct regular financial reviews of contractor costs to ensure alignment with P&L targets.
  • Ensure that contractor recruitment and retention deliver value for money and support profitability.
  • Identify cost-efficiency opportunities while maintaining quality and reliability.

6. Communication and Collaboration:

  • Foster clear and consistent communication between supply chain teams and project management.
  • Promote collaborative working relationships across departments to ensure smooth project execution.

7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to increase effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of ongoing development, innovation, and adaptability.

8. Reporting and Performance Analysis:

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain activity.
  • Deliver performance, compliance, and cost analysis reports to senior management.

9. Service Team and Engineer Management:

  • Effectively manage the Service Team and Regional Engineers, ensuring their alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee the upskilling of engineers in both technical and operational areas to support service delivery and project implementation.
  • Ensure the Service Team contributes to high-quality outcomes in both reactive and planned workstreams.

 


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain management, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage people, develop supply chain strategies, and recruit contractors across multiple regions.
  • Strong understanding of legal and compliance standards within labour contracting.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Skilled in financial oversight and cost management related to supply chain performance.
  • Proficient with supply chain management software and reporting tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of current trends and best practices in labour supply chain management.
  • Experience working with international teams and coordinating across geographic locations.
  • Strong analytical mindset and proactive problem-solving skills.
