About the Project:
My client are a leading specialist in the commercial refurbishment sector providing high end projects across the UK. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to oversee all aspects of health and safety on a construction project involving the fit out and refurbishment of a commercial building on multiple floors and the construction of a new build extension. The project will require meticulous planning and coordination to ensure safe working environments on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety procedures in line with current legislation and company standards.

  • Conduct risk assessments, method statements, and safety audits across both refurbishment and new-build areas.

  • Liaise with the site team, contractors, and clients to ensure all parties understand and comply with H&S requirements.

  • Implementing effective risk management processes to minimize project activity risks.

  • Workforce engagement to encourage safe behaviours and maintain a positive safety culture.

  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Ensure appropriate PPE, signage, and safety protocols are in place and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health and safety records and documentation.

  • Support the project manager in ensuring the site remains compliant with CDM regulations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum); further qualifications such as IOSH membership desirable.

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager or Advisor on construction projects, including refurbishment and new build.

  • Strong working knowledge of construction health and safety legislation and best practice.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams.

  • Competency in reporting systems, audits, and health and safety documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic site environment.
