About Us

We are a growing contractor based in Bolton, delivering high-quality building services across the UK. As part of our continued expansion, we are looking for an experienced Floor Layer to join our team and help deliver excellent workmanship on a variety of maintenance and installation projects.

The Role

As a Floor Layer, you will:

  • Carry out flooring work (repairs, replacements, installations) across a range of domestic and commercial properties, nationwide.

  • Work on different floor coverings and systems (e.g., vinyl sheet, vinyl tile, laminate, carpet, wet room flooring, safety flooring).

  • Travel regularly and stay away from home when required, working as part of a mobile team.

  • Prepare sub-floors (levelling, cleaning, screed/adhesive work) and ensure finishes meet company and client quality standards.

  • Liaise with site teams, clients and supervisors to ensure smooth delivery of projects, minimal disruption and high customer satisfaction.

  • Safely work at height or in confined spaces when required; maintain and use correct PPE and follow all health & safety requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of materials, time, job completion, and travel/stay allowances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and replace flooring coverings to a high standard, in line with drawings/specifications and health & safety requirements.

  • Undertake both planned works and reactive jobs, sometimes in occupied properties.

  • Travel to and from sites (across the UK), stay away from home when required and manage your time efficiently.

  • Maintain your tools, van (if provided) and materials, ensure compliance with company standards.

  • Work collaboratively with joiners, carpet fitters, decorators, site supervisors and clients to deliver job scopes on time and to budget.

  • Adhere to company policies for health & safety, working hours, travel/stay allowances, vehicle usage and quality standards.

  • Provide feedback on materials, methods, and suggest improvements where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Floor Layer (covering a variety of floor types) in domestic and/or commercial environments.

  • Comfortable working at height, moving/handling heavy materials, working in occupied properties.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay overnight when needed.

  • Based within commutable distance to Bolton office (for reporting in / job scheduling).

  • Flexibility to cover nationwide jobs, sometimes away from base for periods.

  • Strong attention to detail, good timekeeping, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision.

Desirable

  • Own van (preferable but not essential).

  • CSCS card or other relevant construction certification/trade qualification.

  • Experience with wet room flooring systems or specialist flooring installations.

  • Basic knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe systems of work for mobile trades.

Salary & Benefits

£30,000 - £38,000pa
