Project Manager – Fit Out & Refurbishment

Location: Leeds (office-based with UK-wide travel)
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + £5,700 car allowance + 10% annual bonus + benefits

Overview

Our client, a leading construction and facilities management contractor based in Leeds, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multi-site fit out and refurbishment projects across the UK. Working within the food retail sector, you will manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of fit out and refurbishment projects across multiple food retail sites

  • Oversee project planning, programming, budgeting and resource allocation

  • Manage and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers

  • Ensure adherence to health & safety standards and company policies across all sites

  • Conduct regular site visits throughout the UK to monitor progress and resolve issues

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, store teams, and internal stakeholders

  • Manage project financials including cost control, variations and reporting

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, progress reports and handover packs

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive problem-solving

  • Drive continuous improvement and best practices across project delivery

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within fit out or refurbishment

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, CDM regulations, and health & safety compliance

  • Experience managing multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously

  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen

  • Ability to travel across the UK and manage time effectively

  • Full UK driving licence

Preferred:

  • Experience in food retail fit out or refurbishment environments

  • Background working for main contractors or specialist fit out companies
