Construction Buyer

About you

You are an experienced Construction Buyer or Materials Procurement Manager who knows the difference you make to a project. You understand that strong procurement keeps sites moving, protects margin and avoids last minute stress.

You enjoy taking ownership. You like being trusted to run with multiple construction projects at once. You are commercially sharp, comfortable negotiating with suppliers and confident pushing for best value without cutting corners on quality.

You probably enjoy being part of a close knit business where people know your name and your input matters. You want to grow with a company, not feel like a number in a large corporate machine.

Your experience

You have a background in construction procurement, ideally within a main contractor or specialist contractor environment. You have managed materials buying across several live projects and understand how to balance cost, quality and programme.

You can read and interpret CAD drawings and project specifications. You are comfortable producing accurate take offs, sourcing materials, comparing quotes and managing purchase orders.

You have built supplier relationships that actually work. You know how to negotiate, how to protect margin and how to hold suppliers to agreed lead times. You understand the commercial side of construction and how your decisions impact project profitability.

What you will be doing with your experience

You will take full ownership of materials procurement across multiple construction projects. You will source, price and procure materials and services in line with programme requirements, keeping projects on track and within budget.

You will work closely with project managers and site teams to understand upcoming needs. You will interpret drawings and specifications to ensure what is ordered is right first time. You will manage supplier performance, maintain quality standards and build long term partnerships that support the business as it grows.
