Project Manager – Retail Fit-Out

Location: East Yorkshire, with UK travel
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + Company Car/Car Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

About you

You are an experienced Project Manager who knows how to deliver fast-paced retail construction and fit-out projects.

You will be comfortable working in live retail environments where programmes are tight, standards are high and there is no room for things to slip. You will be confident managing clients, subcontractors, consultants and site teams, while keeping control of programme, cost, quality and health and safety.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being involved in the detail of a project, but who can also step back and see the bigger picture.

Experience working within food retail would be highly beneficial, although experience across wider retail fit-out and refurbishment environments will also be considered.

Your experience

You will have a proven background delivering retail fit-out, refurbishment or construction projects as a Project Manager.

Ideally, you will have experience of working in fast-paced retail environments, particularly where projects are delivered across multiple locations or within live trading stores.

Experience working for major food retailers or within a food retail framework would be advantageous, but it is not essential.

You will also have:

  • A strong understanding of construction and retail fit-out

  • Experience managing programmes, budgets and project teams

  • Good commercial awareness

  • Strong health and safety knowledge

  • The ability to manage subcontractors and supply chain partners

  • Excellent communication and client management skills

  • The confidence to deal with problems and find solutions quickly

  • HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent construction qualification

What you will be doing with your experience

You will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a number of retail projects across the UK.

You will manage projects from pre-construction through to completion, taking ownership of programme, cost, quality, health and safety and client relationships.

Your role will include:

  • Taking projects from pre-construction through to completion

  • Developing and managing detailed programmes

  • Managing project budgets and commercial performance

  • Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers

  • Managing health and safety, quality and environmental requirements

  • Working closely with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders

  • Chairing progress meetings and providing regular project reports

  • Identifying project risks and putting plans in place to deal with them

  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required standard

  • Supporting the pre-construction team on future projects

You will be working on significant retail projects for a major food retail client, giving you the opportunity to build on your experience and take responsibility for high-profile schemes across the UK.
