Catering Designer

CATERING DESIGN SPECIALIST

Design & Build specialists are looking for a Catering Designer to join their team on a permanent basis. They complete inspiring projects with in the hospitality sector. They handle the entire process from conception to completion to deliver a high quality finish. 

Working alongside the commercial led design team, this role will offer a balance between creative exploration and technical delivery drawn detailed justifications. The successful candidate will need to be commercially astute. You will join an established team of specialists. 

Duties:

  • Initial on site measured surveys.
  • Feasibility studies with specific reference to commercial kitchens and the associated operations.
  • Client-facing to establish the brief and continuous project development.
  • Working closely with project stake holders to develop an approved layout.
  • Working closely with specialist third party consultants and suppliers
  • Analysing and adapting design 
  • Creation of full commercial catering installation package including accurate plans, sections, elevations, service plans, service schedules and installation scoping documents.
  • Working with clients and operational staff to negotiate sign off approval.
  • Working with the in-house delivery team to ensure project is delivered on budget and to programme.

Essential knowledge & requirements:

  • Prolific knowledge of catering equipment and a genuine passion for the development of well-considered commercial catering environments.

  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial catering operations and the associated considerations.

  • AutoCAD.
  • Microsoft office package including Word, Excel.
  • On site measured surveying skills.
  • Knowledge of building control and regulation implementation with specific reference to commercial catering environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant EHO and Food Standards practices with regards to commercial catering design.
  • Good understanding of all commercial catering M&E considerations and the ability to process relevant calculations regarding services.
  • Suitable university or other formal design based qualification.  
  • Proficient time management and methodical working.
  • Ability to work without supervision using own initiative when required.
  • Ability to work as part of a development team when required.
  • Ability to drive / attend site using public transport as and when required. 

Desirables:

  • Revit / BIM experience
  • SketchUp Pro.
  • Understanding of interior architectural spatial design process.
  • Understanding of the commercial processes associated to a design and build fit-out company.
