Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer – M&E Consultancy

Location: Manchester
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (Senior) | £60,000+ (Principal)

A leading M&E consultancy with offices across the North West and Yorkshire is looking to strengthen their Manchester team. They deliver high-rise residential, student accommodation, and mixed-use projects for Tier 1 contractors, alongside commercial, industrial, and airport schemes.

They have a strong pipeline of work and are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer at either Senior or Principal level to lead and deliver projects locally. Career progression is clear, with the opportunity for promotion within 18 months from day one.

The Role

Senior Electrical Engineer

  • Lead electrical design on live projects

  • Manage schemes once secured by Directors / Associate Directors

  • Deliver projects through design and construction phases

  • Client-facing role, managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Supervise Intermediate / Junior Engineers

Principal Electrical Engineer

  • Carry out all duties expected of a Senior Engineer

  • In addition, take responsibility for project tendering and fee proposals

  • Involved in resource planning and project allocation

  • Lead projects from pre-contract through to completion

  • Provide technical leadership across multiple schemes

  • Maintain and develop client relationships

Project Types

Most projects are for Tier 1 contractors and major developers and include:

  • High-rise residential

  • Student accommodation

  • Apartment developments

  • Commercial offices

  • Industrial units

  • Airports & mixed-use schemes

About the Role

  • Offices based in Manchester, projects mainly local

  • Clear career structure: Director → Associate → Principal → Senior → Intermediate

Requirements

  • M&E consultancy background with strong electrical design experience

  • Experience leading projects and supervising teams

  • Client-facing skills

  • Stable career history preferred

  • Experience with residential, high-rise, or commercial projects desirable
